The Central Post Office in Varna was designed by architect Angel Momov and constructed at the beginning of 1930s. It was inaugurated in 1935. There used to be a billboard in front of the Post-office holding the following inscription “It is only the independent nations that are privileged to have their own posts”.

It is on two floors, amazing with its proportions, strength and functionality.

When designing the post office the walls and ceilings were lagged with plaster panels depicting not only the history of the Kingdom of Bulgaria, but also its future.

For the inner decoration of the post office was assigned the remarkable sculptor of Ukrainian-Polish origin Paraschuk Mihailo, a student of Auguste Rodin.

In the early sixties of the twentieth century the building was upgraded with another floor. During reconstruction, irresponsibly and irrevocably most of the works of Paraschuk were destroyed or lost many of their characteristic appearance.

The building of Central Post Office is one of the most representative buildings in Varna. Located directly behind the Cathedral, it is an intersection of busy flow of people and vehicles. The idea of the municipal administration is together with the neighbouring buildings to form the present center of Varna. The planning engineers have provided large enough spaces to highlight the typical architecture of the building.
